Trebuchet use in Ireland

Hello all

Firs posting here so apologies in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Is there any evidence of a trebuchet being used in the past in Ireland? I only discovered trebuchet two years ago while on holiday in France. sonce then I have built a few models - this is one which I made for my boys for their play mobil soldiers - it fires golf balls about 50 metres.

I have built a bigger version for my kids norman themed birthday party - again it fired water filled balloons abou 50-60 metres. I'll post pictures soon.

but back to original question - any idea if these trebuchet made it to Ireland during the Norman period

Thanks for that. I found that thread before I posted my message. I understand that the project had come to a standstill and the last posting was some time ago. I got in touch with the National Museum today and had some positive results where I was told that there are reports of engineers repairing siege machines in a manuscript or two. I am to get more information regarding the manuscripts etc later.

I'll keep you posted on any more news.

Hi Brendan.

I am still waiting on further news on funding which will decide how fast this project will take off. So I am keeping my powder dry and waiting for orders. When I know more I will put up a detailed post. Your support is most welcome Brendan as you well remember we spoke about this a good while back and it looks like we could be on the way!
